Border Reopening

With the announcement that the US is reopening the border to non-essential travel, did anyone else catch the part about essential travelers requiring vaccination beginning in January 2022?

Mr. Mayorkas said in January, 2022, this vaccination requirement will be extended to essential cross-border travelers such as truckers, students and healthcare workers.

I don't have exact numbers in my fleet, but I know we have some drivers that have not been vaccinated and likely won't get it. If this goes ahead as planned, how do you foresee it affecting your operations?

Hard enough to find out how many are vaccinated, many wont confirm. Don't think there is a fleet out there that this wont affect.

Will affect us as well - so ironic - drivers who are vaccinated do not have US visa and those that do do not want to get vaccinated ugh

Raise the rates and pass it on!
There is always some idiot who will work for $.90...We only book to what our capacity is - I see some trucking companies that book over, then try and sell the load on the Link for $400 cheaper - I mean we all pick from the same shipper ... but still an idiot will cover it....
I feel I should let the shipper know - but then...not sure maybe the shipper doesn't care as long as the load gets there

Shippers wouldn't care if Santa Claus on a sled pulled by reindeer came up to the dock door with the correct pickup # , id wager they would try to load him up

I am curious what they will do with the many truckers that have mixed vaccine regimens. There is a huge swath out there. If the USA doesn't accept that, will they offer 3rd doses to drivers to get them up to the US standard? At any rate, they better come up with a plan to deal with this.

Good point! I'm a mixer as well so I'm sort of stuck in limbo too.
