You gotta love this one. For the past several years the US has been charging fees based on the total number of equipment we are operating into the US. Both tractors and trailers have been subject to the fees. For example the 2009 fee for a company with 250 tractors and 751 trailers was $37,500.00. They have now decided that maybe this was too much and the proposed fees will now only apply to tractors. This same carrier will now only pay $8,373.00. For a company our size the savings are over 50%. What a ripp off over the past few years. You gotta love uncle Sam.......
